Mommy's To Be

Congratulations to two of my dearest friends!! Amber is pregnant with baby #2 and Megan is pregnant for the first time! I'm so excited for both of you and wish I could give you both a hug! You are both too far away. Megan is living in North Carolina (go Tarheels) and Amber is living in Houston. I will update on any information that they give me soon!

Love to you both!

Shrimp Kabobs

We had a great weekend but one of the best parts was yesterday afternoon when we grilled shrimp kabobs! It was a beautiful day, great for grilling outside. My mom got us some great shrimp when she went down to the coast a month or so ago. These shrimp are huge and delicious! We put mushrooms, squash, tomatoes and onion on the skewers with the shrimp. It was wonderful. Thanks Mom! Here are the pictures of how good our shrimp kabobs were!

Truly Disgraceful....

I need to get this off of my mind and I've talked to my Mom and Lee about it but I guess I feel like if I write it on my blog then my thoughts are out there for everyone to know. And I do want everyone to know that I think what that Dallas Police Officer (Robert Powell) did to Ryan Moats and his family is truly disgraceful! Not only to the Dallas PD but to humanity! I'm so mad at the situation that I don't know how exactly to express my words. This police officer abused his power to keep Ryan and the dying womans own father from getting to see her one last time! I could scream........

Below is part of the conversation exchanged between Moats and the officer:

Moats: "You really want to go through this right now? My mother-in-law is dying. Right now!... I got seconds before she's dying, man!"

Powell: "If my mom was dying, I'd probably be a little upset, too, but when I saw flashing red and blue [lights], I'd stop."

Are you serious? He would be a 'little' upset if his mother were dying?! I hope his mother doesn't take that personally! I hope they fire him. I hope whatever the process is that in the end they decide that he should be terminated.

No human being should ever have the power to decide whether you see your dying relatives one last time!

Weekend

Friday night Lee and I just ordered a pizza and watched TV. I was so tired and it was the perfect night to just 'hang out'. Saturday, Lee had to do some stuff at the field for a couple of hours and then we ran some errands to get ready for our cook out on Sunday. We got several things at Whole Foods and they all turned out to be delicious! Saturday night we went to dinner at Joe T's with another couple and I had one of their 'special' margarita's... Turns out that Kristen can't handle Joe T's margarita's any longer!! After dinner we went to the Martini Bar and I wasn't there 5 minutes before I had the hiccups. It wasn't even 9pm yet! That damn margarita ruined my whole night:) Lee and I ended up leaving and I think we were both asleep by 11pm. Seriously, I don't know how the margarita's are made at Joe T's but they are lethal!

Anyway, I woke up Sunday morning and still felt bad! It took a while for my hangover to pass but finally I felt better and was able to get everything ready for family to come over. We cooked out and really had a great time Sunday afternoon. We watched 'Wanted' after we ate and that is a really good movie! For dessert I made Banana cupcakes (the mix is from Williams-Sonoma), they were fabulous! I don't think that any of us had had them before so it was a first but they were very good. I recommend them! I posted some pictures below that I took of everyone yesterday.

Lee and I

The girls.....Terri and I

The boys....Lee, Jeffrey and Scooter

All of the cousins.

Addison

Miriam's daughter, Addison, drew this picture of Lee and I getting married. Addison is 7 and I think she did such a great job on this picture and everything she thought of to put in it. The people in the audience, the flowers, the bells, etc.! I wanted to post this because I thought it was so sweet!

Spring is coming

Although it doesn't feel that way today! Last Sunday was really beautiful weather so I decided to head to Lowe's and get some flowers/vegetables. I spent the afternoon planting them and now they look so nice on our patio! I got two tomato plants (I love home grown tomatos!) and several flowers. I took pictures so we can all see what they look like alive:)

One of my tomato plants.

Second tomato plant.

My favorite....Tulips!

This is a Hydrangea...my first so we will see how I do with it.

Petunias

This is an assortment of flowers...Bogonias and Dianthus.

My sister has been in town for a couple of days since this is spring break week for her. We have been going to River Legacy park and running/walking in the afternoon since it has been so nice outside! I think today we will have to do any sort of exercise inside though.....
Here is just a funny picture of me at my desk....maybe to prove I do work every once in a while! :)

Dinner at Ovation

We went to dinner Friday night at Ovation in Ft. Worth. It was wonderful! For those who have not tried it, it is worth going at least once. It is a little expensive but the food is outstanding! They have a great band that plays and the waitstaff is so knowledgeable!! Here are some pics from dinner.

Saturday I went to get my tires rotated and balanced at Discount Tire and ended up leaving with 3 new tires!! I knew that day was coming because it had been over 3 years since I've had my tires replaced (except one that had a flat and I had to replace a couple of years ago). Anyway, $500 later I was really bummed. Tires just really aren't fun to purchase. Lee was speaking at a Coach's Clinic that morning and then watching some guys pitch at the field. I had dropped him off earlier so I went back to the field to get him and he still had a while before he was done. I just hung out in the stands and waited, but if anyone was outside Saturday you know how COLD and WINDY it was!! UGH! I am so tired of the wind! When we left there we went to Kincaid's and ate......oh, how I love Kincaid's cheeseburgers! Sunday we got up and went to the grocery store, worked out and then Lee had lessons to give and I went to the Arlington Home and Garden show. Barbara was working at a booth for Clark Gardens and there was another lady working with her that had information on wedding events for Clark Gardens. I talked to her about pricing and saw pictures so hopefully this is the place that Lee and I will get married at! I am in love with this place, it is so beautiful and, of course, I want to get married outside. http://www.clarkgardens.com/, check it out.
